AUDREY SOLOMON
Alaskan born violinist, Audrey Solomon, is dedicated to a modern musical career with a diverse approach. With her focus on chamber music and a philosophy of making music part of the composition of every day life, Audrey strives to participate in the evolution of art and it’s function in American society. Stimulated by her classical music background, her music outreach endeavors, and her experiences in the entertainment industry, she is devoted to expanding concert venues and programs and exposing the public to the incredible effects music has on our communities. |

Starting at the age of four, Audrey Solomon studied with her mother, Beverly Beheim and later also studied with pianist Svetlana Velichtko. While still in high school, she moved to Cleveland where she studied with David and Linda Cerone at the Cleveland Institute of Music and continued there through her undergraduate work. Later, she received a Masters and a Graduate Certificate at the University of Southern California while studying with Robert Lipsett, teaching as an assistant for the string department, and participating in USC’s Protégé Program with her trio, The Blue Rose Trio.

As a young musician, Audrey was awarded first prize in the ASTA state solo competition in Alaska. She was the recipient of the Mary Lucian Casetta Memorial Scholarship Competition award, and the Anchorage Festival of Music’s “Young Alaskan of the Year” Competition award. She traveled across the state as a performer for the organization “Alaskans for Drug Free Youth”. She received the Martha Holden Jennings scholarship to attend Encore School for Strings summer program in Cleveland, Ohio. Among the orchestras she has been a featured soloist with and member of the Anchorage Civic, Anchorage Youth, Fairbanks Symphony, the Anchorage Festival, the Fairbanks Festival, the Anchorage Symphony and the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestras. She has been a guest chamber and solo performer at the Sitka Festival, the Anchorage Festival, the Fairbanks Festival, the Chautauqua Festival in New York, the St. Albert’s Chamber Music Festival in Hawaii, the Western Slope Chamber Series in Colorado, the International Cello Encounters in Rio Dejanaro Brazil, as well as the Rencontres Franco-Américaines De Musique De Chamber in Missillac, France. |

As a chamber musician, Audrey spends the majority of her time with the Blue Rose Trio. They won top prizes in the Coleman National Chamber Music Competition, the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition, and the International Young Artists Peninsula Competition. They were recipients of USC’s “Outstanding String Ensemble” award in 2006. In addition to playing concerts in California, they performed in Alaska, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Rio Dejenaro Brazil, and Northern France this year. The trio is supported by grants through the University of Southern California’s “Protégé Program”, which is a program that exclusively selects and promotes exceptional students pursuing a performance career. The program facilitates opportunities to perform, record, do outreach, and receive mentorship from various faculty members including guidance from Midori.

Audrey was titled “Miss Alaska 2000” and was the recipient of the Bert Parks Talent Award at “Miss America 2000”. She spent her year speaking and performing at schools promoting music education in the public school system with her platform “Outreach through Music”. While attending the Cleveland Institute of Music, she received a scholarship award for promoting music outreach in Cleveland. Inspired by her two-time winnings as Alaska State Fiddling Champion, Audrey plays electric violin in classical crossover and folk fusion groups. Audrey has performed live with pop artists such as Britney Spears on “Saturday Night Live”, “Il Divo” on the “Tonight Show”, and Chicago’s Peter Cetera. Her recent studio work includes recording for artists such as Kanye West, Christina Aguilera, Mary J Blige, Mandy Moore, Bryan McKnight, and Rod Stewart. Recent motion picture films she recorded for are “A Night in a Museum”,“Next”, and “Spider Man 3”.

In collaboration with her mother, violinist, Beverly Beheim, Audrey has launched a summer program called “Chamber Music Intensive” in Anchorage. This involves a concert series featuring Alaskan artists and out-of-state guest artists who also conduct a chamber music workshop. Audrey is currently working towards building an outreach program as well as a concert series based on outreach with the Blue Rose Trio in Los Angeles. Audrey recently traveled to Northern Thailand as a Rotary Volunteer doing violin outreach in combination with teaching English. She will be a featured USC Alum in the “Trojan Family Magazine” this summer. In addition to working with the trio and free-lancing and teaching in Los Angeles, Audrey performs regularly with the Pasadena Symphony and with the group “Feast” in Colorado, which features her as a soloist, chamber musician, and fiddler. |
