JOSHUA PIFER
began his study of the piano at age 11 in Tokyo, Japan. He moved to the United States to study medicine, piano, and organ at Wittenberg University. Eventually Joshua chose to pursue only music and received his masters in piano performance from Miami University. He is currently achieving a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the University of Southern California where he studies with Antoinette Perry.
Joshua has performed solo recitals in Southern France and
throughout the United States in many universities, recital
series, museums, churches, retirement communities, schools, and
private homes. |

He performs collaboratively with the Duo Echo as well as the Oto Trio which explores the connection between the music and the visual arts of Japan. Joshua has also actively performed as an accompanist for many professional singers and college faculty such as: Randall Bills, Mari Opaz-Muni, Kenneth Scheffel, Thomas Kennedy, Mark Smarelli, to name a few. He has served as faculty at Wittenberg University and Miami University in Ohio, and has appeared as a guest lecturer and guest artist at the California Institute of the Arts, C. S. U. Long Beach, U. S. C., Masters College, Erlham College, Cal Poly University Pasedena, Pasedena Community College, and more, as well as for various musical advancement groups such as the MTAC and MTNA in both Ohio and California. Joshua has also been sought out by many college level pianists who have suffered injuries from excessive tension in their playing, to help them overcome their problems and learn to play with much more individualistic freedom and ease. Joshua has also served as a choral conductor and organist for several churches.

Joshua enjoys teaching young, college bound pianists in his private studio in Santa Clarita, California where he lives with his wife, Jenny and their son David Wesley Yojiro Pifer. |
